Bishop Black
Rt. Rev’d Dr. Alan Black
Alan is from northern Utah where he was raised in the LDS (Mormon) church. In his early twenties he came to the Christian faith and soon after entered Ministry and was Ordained in the Baptist Church. Many years were spent helping plant new Churches in Utah while attending then teaching Bible College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The family moved to Texas in 1997 and Confirmed in the Episcopal Diocese of Forth Worth. Alan continued to accept invitations to teach the Scriptures in many different Texas churches until Ordination to Ministry in the Anglican Diocese of Texas, 2012. Alan was Consecrated Bishop in January 2018 and Seated Bishop Ordinary in June of that year when the previous bishop retired. Alan is the current Rector of Grace Anglican Church in Waxahachie, Texas. He is a member of The Society of King Charles the Martyr.
The Bishop’s wife, Karen, was born in Washington State and raised in the home of a Christian Minister that served in the US and Canada. She had filled many roles in the churches where her father ministered and she continues in faithful service to our Lord. Along with helping her husband rebuild a congregation and refurbish the building, Karen is a CPA and works in Dallas. The Black’s have two daughters Elisabeth and Mary, residents of New York City. They had been a great blessing in the ministries where the family served in Utah and Texas.
